Explanation of fee types

The basic test is the standard SVA test, where the Enhanced elements do not apply.

An *E Certificate is the charge made for the issue and recording of a Ministers Approval Certificate using the evidence from an SVA examination carried out by the competent authority of another EU Member State.

An Enhanced SVA test with model report covers the charge for the standard SVA test and checking against the Enhanced element of the test, including checking the vehicle against the specifications contained in the model report.

An Enhanced SVA test without a model report covers the charge for the standard SVA test and checking the vehicle against the documentary evidence supplied to demonstrate compliance with the ESVA elements of the test.

*E Certificate and ESVA test, with model report, is the charge made for the issue and recording of a Ministers Approval Certificate using the evidence from a standard SVA examination carried out by the competent authority of another EU Member State. The Enhanced element of the test being conducted by a Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) staff involving checking the vehicle against the specifications given in the model report.

*E Certificate and ESVA test, without a model report, is the charge made for the issue and recording of a Ministers Approval Certificate using the evidence from a standard SVA examination carried out by the competent authority of another EU Member State. The Enhanced element of the test being conducted by VOSA staff involving checking the vehicle against the documentary evidence supplied to demonstrate compliance with the ESVA elements of the test.

ESVA for new vehicle with EC Type Approval is the charge made for checking the markings on the vehicle for acceptability where there is no requirement to carry out the standard SVA test of the vehicle.
